Hello and welcome!

This is a conversation among people who are going through work life transitions.

Are you currently looking for a new job, thinking of changing jobs or careers, starting a new business, re-entering the workplace after being away? Perhaps you’re looking for the “more” in your work life - something more satisfying? Or you feel a bit lost, ambiguous about next steps.

We’ve come together here to share our stories, suggest helpful resources, discuss common challenges, explore possible solutions. To draw upon one another’s experiences.

Why am I launching this blog? Because I believe that your success in getting your “work” out into the world - whatever that means for you - enriches us all. I’d like to help. Let’s get started…

Beginning Your Work Search - 7 Guiding Principles to Remember

  1. You are worthy of success, prosperity and happiness.
  2. You have a unique set of talents, abilities, skills, knowledge, interests and values. Never regard them disparagingly. There is no one exactly like you anywhere.
  3. It is your responsibility to discover your gifts and to develop them. They’re in your care.
  4. You can get your “work” out into the world. There are many avenues available to you.
  5. To do well, you must actively participate and demonstrate your capabilities. You’ve got to show up and do your part. No magic. No shortcuts.
  6. You’re in this for the long-term. Invest continually in yourself for a lifetime - always learning, growing.
  7. You’re not alone, so don’t go it alone. Avoid isolation. Stay connected. Learn from others, ask for help, advice and support, be helpful.

What’s coming up?

Going forward we’ll talk about topics including: how to cope well with the emotional aspects, tips on effective search strategies, the best online and offline resources and tools, the art personal marketing, avoiding the landmines, staying marketable, entrepreneurship, lifelong learning and lifelong earning, working wisely — and much more.

Your comments are welcome and appreciated. The blog will be moderated to insure that it remains a quality resource for this community of people in transition.

Thank you! We hope you’ll join us.
